The second quarter of 2024 has been an interesting period for tabletop board game apps on Android in the US. As per Sensor Tower's analytics, here's how the top contenders fared.
Tic Tac Toe - 2 Player XO from CDT Puzzle Studio showed an upward trajectory in downloads, starting from 17K in the first week of April and peaking at 42K towards the end of May. Weekly active users also increased, beginning at 97K and reaching a high of 151K in the same period.
Chess by Chess Prince, despite being an older game, maintained steady download numbers, though with a slight decrease from 23K to 16K. Weekly active users started at 318K and had a gradual decrease to 248K by the end of June.
Checkers, developed by Gamma Play, experienced a moderate fluctuation in downloads, with numbers ranging from 21K to 17K. The weekly active users saw a slight decline over the quarter, starting at 61K and slightly dipping to 51K.
Chess - Play and Learn from Chess.com had a mixed bag in terms of downloads with a peak at 27K in late April but ending the quarter at 12K. Active users saw a peak of 494K in late April but ended the quarter with 408K.
Sea Battle 2 by Byril saw its downloads remain relatively stable, with a slight increase from 14K to 15K in early May before settling back to 13K. Weekly active users hovered around the 50K mark throughout the quarter.
